On June 24, 2026, the National Coordinator for Police Reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Police Colonel Azam Tolib Tolekzoda, held a meeting in Khorog, the administrative center of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, with members of the Public Councils operating under the internal affairs bodies.
During the meeting, participants discussed strengthening cooperation between the police and the public, increasing public trust in law enforcement, and encouraging greater public participation in crime prevention efforts.
In their remarks, the National Coordinator for Police Reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Police Colonel Azam Tolib Tolekzoda, and the Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Directorate for the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Major General of Police Rustam Ismoil Shafizoda, emphasized the important role of the Public Councils in fostering cooperation between the internal affairs bodies and the public, ensuring transparency in law enforcement activities, and protecting the rights and legitimate interests of citizens. Participants also exchanged views on the work of the Public Councils and discussed ways to further improve their effectiveness.
At the conclusion of the event, several of the most active members of the Public Councils were presented with commemorative gifts in recognition of their contributions. The participants reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in the interests of maintaining public order and preventing crime.
