FATAL ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

On May 31, 2026, at approximately 12:30 AM, a major road traffic accident occurred at the 330th kilometer of the Dushanbe–Chanak–Khujand highway. The driver of a BYD electric vehicle, Firdavsjon Ismoilov, born in 1998 and a resident of the Yova Jamoat of Bobojon Gafurov District, was traveling toward Khujand when he lost control of the vehicle, crossed into the oncoming lane, and collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe driven by Said Yusufzoda, born in 1984.
As a result of the crash, both drivers, as well as a passenger in the Hyundai Santa Fe, Mehriddin Gafuri, born in 1978, died at the scene from severe injuries sustained in the collision.
Two passengers of the BYD vehicle suffered various injuries and were hospitalized.
Later the same day, at approximately 11:50 AM, the driver of a Mercedes-Benz, Jasur Akobirzoda, born in 1998, was traveling through the city of Vahdat. While attempting to overtake another vehicle, he entered the oncoming lane, lost control, and collided with a Dongfeng L7 driven by Abdurashid Kodirov, born in 1985. Following the initial collision, the Mercedes-Benz also struck a Lexus.
As a result of the accident, a passenger in the Mercedes-Benz, Fotima Odinaeva, born in 1961, died from her injuries while being transported to a medical facility.
The driver of the Mercedes-Benz sustained bodily injuries and was hospitalized.
Another fatal traffic accident occurred on May 31 at approximately 5:50 PM in the territory of the S. Ayni Jamoat of Khuroson District. The driver of a Dulan Shacman truck, Mirakhror Mirvosidov, born in 1987, was traveling from Bokhtar to Dushanbe when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a cyclist, Normurod Kamolov, born in 1952.
The victim later died in hospital from the injuries sustained.
Investigative measures are currently being carried out in connection with all of the above incidents.
